Wet plate is an early photographic process, which exposes an image onto a solid surface using the chemical collodion. Wet-plate images are identifiable by… certain characteristics – sharpness and clarity in select areas, a sudden focus fall-off, a mono or sepia-tint finish and rough imperfections around the edges of the plate. The results usually look fantastic and very unique! This process is rather difficult to replicate using a digital image. Normally in Photoshop one tries to illuminate all the imperfections in the image and touch the face up a bit with portrait shots but here the opposite was done to help create this look.
