Shanghai Photo Walk

Shanghai at night is secondly only to Hong Kong in my opinion for its lights, buildings and water ways. Join me on a night photo walk to some of the ‘hot spots’ and take as many photos as you can. More is better in this case. There are…. no restrictions on where you can take your camera and tripod which makes things a lot easier. Roof top bars like ‘Char Bar’ on the top of the Indigo hotel and the ‘Kartel Wine Bar’ are free to enter and usually are not too crowded so you have some space to work in.

You can walk along the ‘Bund’ and look out across the Haungpu River with it’s incredible busy boat traffic. It’s about a 15 minute walk along the water from here to the Indigo hotel.

Here is the view from ‘Char Bar’ These other Shanghai bars also offer panoramic views of the city. The Vue Bar in the Hyatt Hotel and the ‘Flair’.

Yu Garden or Yuyuan Garden is an extensive Chinese garden located beside the City God Temple in the northeast of the Old City of Shanghai. It is a beautiful place to visit during the day when it’s open but if your out at night and you continue walking through ‘the old town’ with it’s tiny houses dwarfed on all sides by sky scrapers you will be rewarded. It’s a very poor area with trash pilled high in the streets and homes that you can look into through the holes in the walls. On one corner I saw this cleaner steaming garments while his wife smiled at me from the back.
