Airplanes around the world

Airplanes have been a big part of my life and I have flown over 50 different types from small one seater biplanes to large commercial aircraft. I have this folder full of pictures sitting on my hard drive so I have decided to share them with you. It’s a bit of a….departure from the usual landscape images I share with you but it’s good to mix things up sometimes.

On another note, I’m currently on a bullet train from Shanghai to Guangzhou to visit a bicycle factor. Our company Clean Republic has a few new surprises coming soon, maybe a full electric bike??? It’s really fun to build, test them and then ride the final product. It will be powered with our own lithium battery packs.

The Tiny Planets app is fun for images like this. As I walked out to catch this flight I wondered how the inverted reflection would work out. You can be the judge.

I don’t go out ‘spotting’ as it’s referred too very often. It’s a huge avocation in Japan and sometimes hundreds of people line the fences around airports with some very big lenses to take pictures like these. Maybe it’s because I’m around airplanes so much anyway.

A little boy standing in front of a giant 747 with awe. This image reminds me of myself as a young boy looking at all the airplanes and dreaming about what it must be like to fly them.

In my last post I mentioned the WWI exhibition at the ‘Museum of Flight’ in Seattle where these two airplanes images where taken. You could spend a whole day there and still want to go back.

Preparing for departure from Lake Union in Seattle. If you have not taken a scenic flight over Seattle on a clear day you will not regret it. Flights usually last 30 – 40 minutes and you get a very different perspective than you do from the ground. If you want to take pictures stress free just use your phone camera with the new mobile Lightroom app.
